Features! #3

Tue Aug 28, 2007, 4:03 PM
Got this from ~MyMidnightLove

The first 10 people who say they want to will be featured. I will go through your gallery and choose three of your deviations I like the most and post them in my journal for everyone to see! It's pretty much to show you off. Who doesn't want that?

The catch?

You gotta put this in your journal as well if you want to be featured.

So go ahead people!! Tell me you wanna be featured! Shameless advertisement for your gallery is always a good thing. XD

FEATURE #1: ~KlavierMonette

[link] Stardust, a companion piece to my Leap of Faith.

[link] Hmmm, she looks thirsty. Check out the body art. Come on klavier, get the real tattoo!

[link] I sure never went to a Tea Party as fun as this one...

FEATURE #2: *sorceress-Ayi

[link] A simple tribute to the mad genius of Syd Barrett.

[link] Guitar Center Boy, a love song that's cheesy, heartfelt and awesome all in one.

[link] Girl with a guitar today, rock & roll goddess tomorrow!

FEATURE #3: ~Chie-Yamatzu/~cheetohXD (she changed accounts, but there's some awesome stuff on the old one.)

[link] A heartbreaking true story.

[link] A not-so-heartbreaking true story.

[link] Sequel to the first, on the new account. Sorry Leah, but I don't know squat about anime so fan-fiction is out.

Tagged again... AND again....

Thu Jun 28, 2007, 4:08 AM
Right, I got tagged twice in three days. I feel loved.

1. Tagged by ~singinghope

1.Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.
“As months passed after the sole reply to the first message transmitted from Giordano Bruno at the time of the Shapieron’s departure, he had grown increasingly suspicious that the whole thing had been a hoax — that somebody with access to the UNSA communications net had somehow arranged a message to be relayed back from some piece of UNSA hardware located out in space in the right direction.” Well, it’s not only line 4, but I can’t quote a handful of words completely out of context.

2.Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What do you reach?
My coffee, clock, logic textbook, piles of CDs, headphones, sunglasses, bits of paper.

3. What is the last thing you watched on TV?
Doctor Who.

4. Without looking, guess what time it is:
3pm

5. Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?
3:04pm

6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
The rain outside. It’s beautiful.

7. When did you last step outside? What were you doing?
About 11, I think, whenever I got home from Julian’s.

8. Before you started this survey, what did you look at?
I was chatting with ~KlavierMonette

9. What are you wearing?
My black jeans, grey shirt and blue argyle vest.

10. What did you dream about last night?
I was too zonked out to dream. Certainly too zonked out to remember.

11. When did you last laugh?
A few hours ago, watching Doctor Who with Emily.

12. What are on the walls you are in?
Posters.

13.Seen anything weird lately?
My entire life is weird. That’s a good thing.

14. What do you think of this quiz?
Meh, I got tagged, I always honour tags.

15. What is the last film you saw?
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.

16. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?
A nice place to live, a nice car, musical equipment, a trip around the world, and I’d keep doing what I’m doing: writing, making music and studying.

17. Tell me something about you that I don't know.
I wrote a song the other day that nobody will ever see or hear. Not because it’s lousy, because it’s too personal and sensitive.

18. If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?
Give everyone a proper education.

19. Do you like to dance?
I LOVE to dance.

20. George Bush:
Living proof that democracy doesn’t work.

21. Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?
Grace or Cassandra, they're pretty names. I like Nabilah’s choice though: Hope. You also can't go wrong with flower names.

22. Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?
Brian John, after my grandfathers.

23. Would you ever consider living abroad?
I’m planning on living in Japan for a few years, teaching English.

24. What do you want God to say to you when you reach the pearly gates?
"Oh dear, I hadn't thought of that..." *promptly vanishes in a puff of logic*

25. Three people to tag:
:iconklaviermonette::iconsimma14::iconmishka-chau:

2. Tagged by ~dragonmysts

The Rules
The 1st player of this 'game' starts with the topic, "6 weird habits/things/hates about yourself" and people who get tagged MUST write a journal about their 6 weird/habits/things/hates as well as state this rule clearly.
In the end you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says 'you are tagged' in their devpage comments and tell them to read yours.....

1. Biting nails. (really bad habit)

2. Nerdism, particularly Star Wars, Doctor Who, Hitchhiker’s Guide and Lord of the Rings geekdom. (weirdness, albeit good-type weirdness)

3. Stubbornness; never doing things by halves. (can be good or bad)

4. Arguing. (habit)

5. Ego. (:sing:it’s not a dirty word)

6. Requiring very little stimulus to be very happy. (good+weird)

Blasphemy! (Part 2)

Sat Jun 9, 2007, 12:25 AM
The first recording of Comfortably Dumb is online at [link] . Go check it out. As always myspace messes with the quality and clips some of the sound - it works fine when I play it back on my computer - but it's still as listenable. Check it out.

EDIT 2007.06.09

I've fiddled with the mix and re-uploaded the track. The clipping is gone and while it's typical myspace-quality it's a definite improvement. It's still just a stopgap mix until I can get live guitars on it *prays for Steve and Caz to say they'll join* but I'm a lot happier with it.

  • Listening to: Blind Guardian - And Then there was Silence.
  • Reading: Descartes.

Leap of Faith

Fri May 18, 2007, 5:43 AM
Ordinarily my way of composing a piece of music is to begin with a single chord or simple chord sequence, and improvise for five or ten minutes around it. I play it back and pick out the bits that I like and weave them into the song. The first draft, as it were, is usually not very interesting for the most part; much of it is merely getting the feel for the music. On the occasion of Leap of Faith, however, I decided the improvised piece was good enough in its own right to submit to the public. It may be found on the myspace site [link] I've made for the band, which is very slowly coming together. Let me know what you think; it's not very typical of the sound the whole band will have but then neither is any other song I've composed. Our drummer has recently started his own group, "Willow Avenue", but will probably stick with us as well. I hope he will. He's damn good. *grovels*

In other news, assignments and exams suck pants. I saw The Pirates of Penzance tonight, with Anthony Warlow as Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow as the Pirate King (it makes sense, trust me) and the director standing in at the last minute for Reg Livermore as the Major-General. 'Twas a riot. I will be seeing our bassist and co-vocalist performing in Sweet Charity next weekend and then The War of the Worlds: the Musical in September and The Phantom of the Opera, again starring the peerless Mr Warlow, in October.

  • Mood: Unheard
  • Listening to: Blind Guardian - Carry the Blessed Home.
  • Reading: Descartes.
  • Watching: Doctor Who: Spearhead from Space.

Memage time!

Tue May 1, 2007, 1:05 AM
Thanks to ~singinghope for this. In other words, it's her fault. If you've been tagged at the end, copy, paste and answer in your own journal. Or not.

Phillip Bernard Krohn.

2) Male/Female:
*checks* Male.

3) Were you named after anyone?
My great-grandad Stan and grandad John Bernard.

4) Does your name mean anything?
Horse-friend, Brave bear, Crown.

5) Nick Name(s):
Roccondil (Elvish translation of Phillip), Phil (most people), Pip (high school).

6) If you had to choose a new name, what would it be?

Dragon!

12) Religion:
Atheist.

13) What’s your favorite smell?
The first drops of rain in the dry summer air.

14) Political Position?

Haha, I’m a coffee junkie. I still can’t get over finally having a plunger. God bless you, Mishka.

Dark brown hair (dyed black but it’s almost back to normal) and deep blue eyes. I want to get purple transparent contact lenses. Just for a lark.

20) Righty, Lefty, or Ambidextrous?
Righty.

21) Gay, Straight, Bi, or Other?
Umm, what’s other? Lol I’m straight. I’ve learned in other matters to never say never, but I like girls too much to think I’ll ever change.

22) What do you do for living?
I want to get a job as an editor or a writer; I write poetry, stories, philosophy, music and languages to keep myself busy. I’m trying to get my band properly together.

What is this, high school? Not telling.
